Today we will tell you the story of seven-year-old Ivan and his mother Lilia. The boy is a desired and awaited child – he is born from a second, normal pregnancy. He lives in Plovdiv with his two parents and his older brother.

The difficulty in pronouncing certain sounds and pain in the feet of little Ivan, however, proved to be a great obstacle for him to communicate fully with others. After years of work by speech therapists and orthopedists, there is no improvement in the child’s condition. Not long after, Lilia learned about us – the Foundation “For Our Children”, from social networks and recommendations of famous parents. She decided to contact the expert Atanaska Toneva by phone, and later came to the place for a consultation in our office.

Ivan’s mother is a teacher and has serious health problems – allergic asthma, diabetes, diabetic polyneuropathy. In the summer of 2020, she underwent surgery on her arm – cut tendons and nerves in her right arm. Thus, due to the inability to cope with the situation at home, she seeks our help.

The work with the family started with the preparation of a complex individual assessment for Ivan. A meeting with a speech therapist was held, after which a plan for speech therapy services was finalized. In the course of the work, the need for rehabilitation with a physiotherapist was identified to deal with the problems when the child steps.

At the moment, the boy meets regularly with our specialists, and we are all in constant coordination with each other.

In just a few months, there has been progress in Ivan’s speech development – he distinguishes more sounds, and sounds “C” and “K” have already been set. Lilia said that the change in her son’s speech was great. The student no longer bothers to speak and is much calmer in communicating with people. The mother says she is very happy with the changes she sees in the boy.

What greater joy for a parent than to see progress in their child’s development?
